.: American (Electric) Muscle: Ronale Mustang 300E and HST Shelby Cobra EV300
The Ronaele Mustang 300E HST and Shelby Cobra EV300 are built to prove that electric vehicles aren't just good for the environment, but good for winning times on the race track as well. Each is powered by a 300kw electric motor derived from those used to power forklifts and modified to better suit a road car. Each is also capable of over 1000 lb-ft of torque, 300 horsepower, and a range of over 100 miles (as long as you don't indulge your right foot too much). At the track, both should be good for four to six full-throttle quarter-mile runs before they'll need recharging -- a process that takes approximately three hours to complete -- and both are capable of sub-four-second runs to 60 mph.(See more)
.: 2011 GT350 to pace CUP race at Las Vegas.
LAS VEGAS -- The 2011 Shelby GT350 will serve as the pace car for the Feb. 28 Shelby American Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The race will be the public's first opportunity to see the vehicle and the first time for a Shelby GT350 to pace a NASCAR event. The 2011 Shelby GT350 is constructed by Shelby American.
"Since so much of the GT350 was developed on the road course, drag strip and oval at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, it was appropriate to show off the Shelby's handling there during the race," said said Amy Boylan, president of Shelby American.
The GT350 features a Coyote 5.0 liter Ford V8, coupled to a six-speed transmission and center-exit exhaust. Blue Shelby GT350 valve covers and billet caps set off the supercharged engine. The Baer brake system features a six-piston kit in the front, as well as 14-inch rotors in the rear with cooling ducts for all four corners.
The suspension was upgraded with new Ford Racing springs, struts, sway bars and adjustable caster/camber plates. The car also receives a new front fascia, tail light trim, front splitter, rear deck lid filler panel and rear fascia. Functional scoops are located on the side rockers and hood. The GT350 badges on the outside and inside of the car will include a Shelby serial number. The A-pillar carries a fuel pressure, oil pressure and boost gauge.
Shelby teamed with LVMS for the Feb. 28 event to honor the 45th anniversary of the Shelby GT350 and 427 Cobra introductions in 1965. - Nascar.com

.: Cash for Clunkers trade-in list reveals strange and unbelievable trades!
Mixed reactions about the governments "Cash for Clunkers" program have plagued the nation, but after spending around $2.8 billion, some 700,000 new vehicles have found homes. The question however, is what got traded in? We've read some horror stories, but just released is the full list of executed vehicles on the Cars.gov website and we found this list, and wanted to share the oddities we found while investigating. Many are down right hard to believe, suggesting either errors in the submission process, typos found, or even some "under the table work" by dealers who added a few vehicles that weren't eligible for the program. We cant guarentee these were "crushed" but they do appear on the list.

.: DVS Restorations Installs First Tilt wheel Steering Column Prototype in MCI members 66 Mustang.
Mustang Club of Indianapolis' own Randy Easton was selected by DVS Restorations to install a custom prototype of an 8 position tilt wheel steering column.
Randy said, "Dave Stribling had been contacted by Ken Callison, the CEO of Ididit, Inc. They have been making street rod parts for many years, as well as some aftermarket GM stuff. Now they were wanting to get into the early Mustang market with a 8 position tilt wheel steering column, and they needed a 1965 or 1966 car to install the prototype, and develop the installation instructions when the column goes into full production." Randy obviously was thrilled and wanted to proceed with this venture.
Easton continues, "On April 27th, I took my car to the DVS shop in Crawfordsville, and met with Dave, Ken and Ken's daughter Kim. I took a few pictures, and basically watched as they all did their thing. Seeing as this was the prototype, several things were discovered. The main thing, the column needs to be 2 1/2 inches longer, as the firewall seal could not be used, and the slot for the under dash clamp needed to be longer. Ken told me he would correct these problems, and send a replacement column for me." After he was asked about his thoughts on the tilt column post-install, Easton said, "The 2 things I like about this are, 1, the column is really nice, and dresses up the interior of the car, and 2, all this didn't cost me a thing." Hopefully we will have some links to the magazine articles in reference to this install for more information soon. For more information, click here.
.: Ford Mustang GT vs Chevrolet Camaro vs Dodge Challenger
With all the hype with the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger all coming out in 2009... The question is, which is better? Naturally all lovers of each make would support their team, but what about an outsiders opinion? We all would trust Car and Driver magazine... They are 100% brutally honest in their findings, and arent afraid to voice them! Well, Car and Driver did exatly that and put the new Ford, Chevy, Mopar.. all head to head to see which is the better car and were direct in their findings! You will be surprised when you hear the results.
In THIRD place... Dodge Challenger! - Car and Driver says "Wailing at 5700 rpm, the V-8 is loud but barely felt. Only the heavy, vague steering is a burden, and we wish the brake pedal wasn’t quite so swampy" and "The Challenger is a full-size sedan wearing a coupe costume. Chrysler’s designers did heroic duty scaling up the original Challenger’s shape to fit its big house, but ultimately, it’s a 13/10ths-scale caricature, heavy at the bottom, capturing the essence but not the delicate sexiness of the original". This is not good news for Chrysler/Dodge.
In SECOND place... Chevy Camaro! - Car and Driver says "Love or hate the styling (some on our panel didn’t exactly love it), credit GM for modernizing, rather than simply mimeographing" and goes on talking about having more power in the camaro vs the mustang "It’s not a Camaro unless it can set fire to a burnout box. Frankly, we expected the 60-mph mark to arrive sooner than 4.8 seconds. That’s only a 10th better than the Mustang, which has 111 fewer horsepower (and is 300 pounds lighter). Still, the Camaro was quicker through the quarter-mile, and our low-miles test car may still have been tight. Even if true, the 6.2 socks it to you in the low and midrange revs much harder than either the peaky Dodge or the Ford. It also drains the tank quicker, returning 14 mpg to the Mustang’s 17. The LS3 makes a muffled, less enthralling grumble than the Mustang."
In FIRST place... Ford Mustang! - Car and Driver says "The panel was shocked, shaken, and staunchly unanimous: This Mustang rules. " What Did you expect any different?! This 2010 Mustang was meant for both beauty and muscle... And not a sell-out to the "family car" like the Charger... Car and Driver goes on to say, "... look at the facts: At 3580 pounds, the Mustang is lightest by 300. A lively throttle reels in 60 mph nearly as quickly as the Camaro (the Mustang did have 6700 break-in miles, which may have helped), and the car pulls the highest skidpad g (0.92) by a wide margin. The Ford stops in the same distance as the megabraked Camaro (162 feet), and it returned the best fuel economy (17 mpg) despite having the shortest gear ratios of the three cars. Explanations? Perhaps it’s because the Mustang stayed in production while the others took long sabbaticals. Ford used the intervening years well. This Mustang is the most beguiling yet. ...At the moment, no muscle car sounds more muscular, the “little” 4.6 firing up an 18-ounce center-cut hhrrumpph! of juicy protein." and in closing, they go on to say, "If you’re searching for clues as to why Ford is suddenly on the pole in Motown, we found one. "
.: 2010 "Saleen" Mustang Unveiled
With all the news of Saleen Inc. being sold off to MJ Acquisitions earlier this year to Steve Saleen starting his own company "SMS Supercars", it has been more difficult to keep up with what is happening. Will there be a Saleen Mustang again? And if so, who will make it?
Steve Saleen announced at the Mustang 45th Anniversary Celebration, that that he intends to build a new Mustang marketed as the "SMS 460" and "SMS 460X". He unveiled a rendering at the show that outlines the new style. This new car of course is made by Steve Saleen, but not called a Saleen.
But wait there is more. MJ Acquisitions purchased the remaining automobile operations of Saleen Inc. from Hancock Park LLC earlier this year. They announced at the time that they intended to build a Saleen Mustang again as soon as they had the design, engineering and production capability.
This week a photo rendering came across to TheMustangNews.com from a confidential source that shows a well developed design rendering for a 2010 Saleen Mustang. While this rendering is not an official release from Saleen Inc. / MJ Acquisitions, we did confirm with the company that they indeed are working on a 2010 Saleen Mustang product line to be released for sale later this year and that this rendering reflects the working design.
This news is of course tentative as the confidential source did not elaborate on model specifics and stated that the rendering itself may not represent the final product. Furthermore there is no detail or committment on when such cars will be available, where they will be manufacturered, or whether the existing Saleen dealer network will sell the cars. But we did hear that there will be two models including an "S-Line ”, which is pictured.
The rear panel features the now trademark concave surround with SALEEN livery. Rear exhaust tips are sculptured into a handsome rear fascia. The side skirts eschew the Ford black plastic look for a much more integrated and tastefull theme. The front fenders also show some add-on "scoops" that while may not be functional, add to the wow-factor of the car.
If all this comes to pass, interesting times for Saleen enthusiasts indeed. - The Mustang News
.: Return of the 5.0 : Ford confirms 400 HP - V8 Coming in 2010
When the 2010 Ford Mustang first hit the road, there was a concern among the Mustang fans that Ford didn't upgrade the aging 4.6-liter V8.
According to Ford - Ford's team is working on an all-new, aluminum double-overhead cam 5.0-liter V8 – codenamed "Coyote" – with output expected to crest 400 hp and around 400 lb-ft of torque.
The new 32-valve, 5.0-liter V8 is expected to be fitted to the Mustang and F-150 sometime in 2010, replacing the current 4.6- and 5.4-liter mills. And with the inevitable option of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 making its way under the Mustang's hood, Ford looks to be bringing the fight to the new Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger.
Our own President, Millicent Moye was in the news following the government giving stimulus funds to Citizens Health Center. Millicent was one of many doctors whom saw patients during this special weekend. The Saturday clinic was open saturday, operating from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday and offering routine and emergency medical care. During its weekday hours, Citizens Health Center provides dental, pediatric, gynecologic and pharmacy services. Charges for services are set according to income, and the poorest patients pay a minimum fee. The expansion comes as Citizens already has seen 25 to 30 new patients a week this year. Of those, 50 percent have been uninsured, CEO Jo Burtrum said. Last year, Citizens' 56 staff members saw 7,500 patients at its two locations and 11 school-based clinics. Thank you Millicent for helping our community!

.: State Police Officers Get Early Christmas...
A group of trained Indiana State Police troopers have been issued high-performance Ford Mustang muscle cars to "keep the peace" on Indiana highways. Dave Woodman first spotted these unmarked police beasts at ORP and managed to catch a few pictures.
The department upgraded from the Chevrolet Camaro, to its Mustang rival, as its unmarked highway enforcer.
State police officials say 18 of the cars will focus on what ISP calls “crash-causation” violations – which include speeding, impaired driving and improper passing.
Many have mixed opinions on the matter, including looks vs fuel economy, entrapment, and usefulness as the back seats are not able to hold those being arrested. You be the judge. read more
