Mystery Cruise for April 18th

Postby Too Fast » Mon Mar 08, 2010 11:23 pm

Hello fellow V8 drivin' RWD appreciators. This is Steve Papai from the Indy Firebird Club, extending an invite for another Mystery Cruise. We shall meet at McDonalds at Kentucky Avenue and High School Rd, on the SW side of Indy. The planned leaving time is 9:00ish, so if you want to eat or mingle with others (maybe meet some new faces), get there before then. Note this is a SUNDAY, last fall we had a good turnout for a Sunday cruise and I thought I'd try it again. We may have some Mopar people in attendence as well, but I do try to limit these things to RWD V8 vehicles. All right, if it is a performance RWD vehicle of some sort, it would be allowed.

Any questions, post 'em up!

Steve

I have it on my calendar to come, but consider me 50/50. I havnt been able to participate in one of these yet, however have heard a lot of positive reviews on them! :)

To put my .02 in... I will probably NEVER be able to join them on Saturdays... I prefer them on Sundays as well!
Hope to see you on April 18th!

I now know about working on Saturdays. I worked downtown for 20 years, and it was a M-F job. Lost that last April, now the place I work is open 7 days a week, Saturday is almost mandatory. The only way to not have to work a Saturday is if you work the previous Sunday, then the next weekend you get Sat-Sun off, or maybe a 3 day weekend. No vacation time yet either, I did have 5 weeks! Bitter still, yes.

Sound like a good time. My daughter is big fan of the Firebird. I'm sure she would love to see some of them. :)

Went for another preliminary drive on the route today, I must say that the weather cooperated even tho the police and tree crews did not. (no, I did not get pulled over!) However, the last 10 miles to the lunch destination were fantastic, hope to see some Mustangs on this cruise!!!!

We're hoping to be there, but some things have to fall into place.

I'm definitely a go for coming! I even went out and bought brand new tires just for this occasion this past weekend. I've been looking forward to it!

Only thing holding me back is weather. If it rains, i'm probably not gonna make it... so *crosses fingers for sunshine!!!*

Right now the weather man is saying - Sunny and 65. I hope he is right! The Mustangs might out number the Firebirds. Everyone ready to roll !!!! Last weekend we had 19 cars that traveled to Batesville. It is fun to watch the people standing and watching us parade thru their small towns and the little kids pointing at their favorite car. It was awesome!!!

Well, about the hills we will encounter, let's just say that one time on this particular route I got all 4 wheels off the ground, I was not trying to do it. When I landed, my friend Bill said, "Did we just..." and I cut him off and said "ya, we did!" The car did not bottom out, or even scrape the headers. Gotta love the tucked-up Hooker long tubes and ORY! Anyway, Scott Scheel was behind me last Tuesday since he won't be able to make it Sunday, and he said some of the hills we hit, Too Fast would suddenly dissappear in an instant. :o

Yes that is fun watching the people in the small towns watching us parade by. Sometimes, since I'm the lead car on our cruises, I hit the horn or throw them a rev to get their attention so they can watch us all.
